President's Welcome and Comments

A Message from our President

The Spokane Fly Fishers men and women meet monthly from September to May, with some of the most knowledgeable and notable speakers in the fly fishing industry, along with many other opportunities to socialize and participate in special activities, including a fly Auction and Fly Fishing Equipment Raffle. Our activities continue throughout the Summer months, so there is always something to do.

We provide educational opportunities to our members by providing an extensive and highly rated Beginners Fly fishing School, and both a Beginning and Intermediate fly tying classes in the winter and spring. We periodically have special outings that include an extensive fly fishing clinic, for a small charge to cover the cost of well known teachers and some food and music.

During the general fishing season we sponsor many fly fishing outings to regional lakes, streams and rivers, usually at no charge. Some are day outings, and some are campouts, but there are many choices so just about everyone can attend a few of these each year.

Our skilled instructors not only teach the various club classes in fly tying and fly fishing, but also bring the important issues of conservation into their classes and other events.

The club regularly contributes labor to such projects as WDFW Fish Hatchery fin clipping, and the Annual WDFW Kid’s Fishing Day at Clear Lake. The club also donates money and time to other conservation activities at regional lakes and rivers.

A member can find plenty of different activities at the club in just about any area of fly fishing that most interest them. We welcome men and women of all ages, and are proud to give everyone chances to be leaders if they like.

I have made many good friends during my many years of involvement with the club. Our 280 members come from many walks of life, but all are interested in the art of fly fishing, the constant improvement of their skills. and the sharing of their experiences with other like minded folks in the club. Everyday someone in the club is doing something to keep the mission of our club going strong.

This web site has been designed to give you a gateway to our club and all of it’s numerous aspects. This is a very dynamic organization with many fine people sharing their love of fly fishing. If you are new to the club, join us and become part of this group of generous, fun fly fishers. We’d love to have you join us.
