Intermediate Fly Tying Workshop

Intermediate Fly Tying Classes of 2024

Classes are starting on January 4! Time to register.

Intermediate Fly Tying

The Intermediate Fly-Tying Class provides an opportunity for fly tiers who have either completed the Beginning Fly Tying Class or have other experience to develop additional skills. Students will learn how to tie more complex or specialized flies that can be used anywhere you may be fishing. The class consists of six (6) classes, usually held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Each class is led by a different guest expert tier who will bring their personal recipes for flies you have probably never tied before.

Tiers need to provide their own basic fly tying tools, vices, etc., and a small variety of basic thread colors which should equip you to tie most flies being taught. The club provides the specific materials you will need to tie the flies being taught. You will need your vice and a portable light is handy to add more light on your vice and flies. An extension cord also helps, if needed, as outlets are located on the edges of the room. This class will be fun, will add dimension to your skills, and teach you some good flies to improve your fishing and hopefully catching. It has also proven to be lots of fun and a good time to meet up with old friends and make new ones.

The cost for the class is $35.00 per student. Fees cover classroom rental and materials used by students. Class size is limited this year to 20 participants to allow for social distancing. With a large number of students repeating and coming back to learn more new flies.

The classes are held at the Northwest Wildlife Council Building at 6116 North Market Street, just south of Francis.

Masks are mandatory, including for those who have gotten their vaccine.
