Dates: August 15-18

Hosts: Dan Wight

This is a combination of Dan’s previous outing descriptions. All errors are Robin’s.

For those that have not been on an outing on the Kootenai river in Montana the options are many and all are good. At this time of year we will be running the upper section which is just below the dam.

Sign-In: Guests are required to sign waiver on site.

How to get there:  There are two main ways to reach Libby Montana

Route #1 drive through Sandpoint and N to Bonners Ferry crossing the river there continuing N until you reach the junction with Hwy. 2. Turn right and travel east through the valley to Troy and then on to Libby.

Route #2 this route takes you from the new interchange just north of Sandpoint on Hwy. 200 around the North Shore front array with some spectacular scenery. You travel through the town of Clark Fork ID. You’ll drive past the Cabinet Gorge dam to Bull Creek Rd. which turns left ( north) and intersects with Hwy. #2 just east of Troy Mt. Here you turn right (east) and continue on your way past Kootenai falls towards Libby. On California Ave. which is Hwy. #37 intersection turn left through downtown and follow the river north toward the dam.
