Fishing: Although there are several good shore fishing options, anglers are best suited to fish from a boat, float tube or pontoon boat. 2 rod fishing is allowed and had good ramp access. The following descriptions are derived from the Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife website: https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/locations/lowland-lakes/hog-canyon-lake
Hog Canyon: Hog Canyon Lake, also known as Hog Lake. This lake opens to fishing the first Friday following Thanksgiving, giving anglers an alternative to the Black Friday shopping day. Large Rainbows exist in this winter only fishery and fish respond readily to streamers on an intermediate line or sink tip. This lake is very popular with fly fishers. Fishing has been excellent the past five years for Rainbow Trout ranging in size from 12-20 inches with most fish greater than 14 inches.
Hog Canyon access: Hog Canyon Lake is located north of Fishtrap Lake with close access off of I90. From Spokane travel West on I90 towards Spraugue, take exit 254 Fishtrap. Take a left at the stop sign on Spraugue highway Road E for 1 mile, take a left on Lake Valley Loop/Jack Brown Rd for 1.3 miles. Take this all the way to the launch and parking area site at the public access at teh end of the road.
