Casting for Intermediate and Advanced Casters

Limited to FOUR Students!

Saturday, Oct. 3rd from 10 – 12pm

Location: Meet at the west end of W Water Avenue in Peaceful Valley, downstream from Redband Park.

Equipment: Rods will be provided. Bring your own two-handed rod and line if you have one. Bring your
waders and boots for slippery rocks.

By the end of this two hour session the students should be able to make basic, fishable Spey casts from
either bank of the river, with an upstream or downstream wind.
The following topics will be covered:

• Review and refinement of sustained anchor casts (Double Spey and Snap casts)
• Understanding the nuances of the lift, anchor placement, D-loop formation, and the forward stroke
• Intro to touch-and-go casts (Switch Cast, Single Spey, Snake Roll)
• Individual review of your casts and instruction as needed to take your casting to the next level
• Drills to improve your casting skills
• Bring your own rod and line setup. Additional rods will be available. Bring your waders and boots
  for slippery rocksg head system and sink tips
• Learning the uses and basics of the double Spey and snap casts
• Spey casting with single handed and two handed rods
• Review of safety issues and common casting faults
• Drills to improve your casting skills
